British vs. American Slang

Do you know any British slang or American slang? Slang is an interesting part of English, or any language for that matter, since often only people from a specific country or region know how to use it. It's almost like another language in itself!

In this episode, EnglishTVLive's British teacher and co-founder Lloyd talks to an American teacher called Daniel from the Instagram page DC Vocabulary. They share examples of some common British and American slang with each other, while putting one another to the test as to what the meaning is. As you'll see, Daniel is introduced to a lot of new British slang in this episode that he didn't know... and you can learn along with him!

Some of the slang words covered in this episode:

  • "Codswallop" (UK)
  • "Fire" (USA)
  • "Scrummy" (UK)
  • Chockablock (UK)
  • Legless (UK)

If you'd like to learn the meaning of these slang words and more, plus how to use them... you're going to have to listen to the episode above! šŸ˜‰

Our challenge for you today:

Once you have listened to Lloyd and Daniel's conversation, practice using some of the slang words in some example sentences in the comments below! Of course, we'd like to see sentences which are as creative as possible... go for it!!!
